Report: Russia not to offer 30–40% oil price discount for Pakistan
NEW DELHI, Dec 1 (PRIME) -- The negotiations between Pakistan and Russia on oil purchases have fallen through, because Russia disagreed to provide a requested 30–40% discount, local newspaper The Express Tribune reported late on Wednesday, citing sources.
"Pakistan was planning to import oil from Russia in line with the price ceiling offered by the U.S. Sources, however, say that Russia does not seem willing to export oil to Pakistan following an oil price cap set by the U.S.," the newspaper reported.
Russia pledged to consider the issue and communicate the results through diplomatic channels, the sources said. Russia may sell oil at a price set for large and reliable clients, but all available volumes were already sold.
